As to comply with requirements under Regulation [22] of USECHH Regulations, 2000, the employer shall provide training program to employees who are involved in handling of chemical that may have the actual or potential effects to health. The employees need to know exactly the nature of the chemicals used in terms of risks and hazard, and therefore to understand and apply the safety measures. In line to this, employers need to know what legislative requirements that are related to the responsibilities on chemical handling.

TARGET GROUP |
|
Safety & Health Officer, Safety Committee, Chemists, Supervisors, Line-leaders, Employees who are involved in handling chemicals identified in the CHRA Report.

CONTENTS |
|
1. Legislative requirements: includes USECHH 2000 Regulation, the general duties of employers, employees and chemical supplier; also the purpose and basic requirements for health surveillance. 2. Information on chemical hazardous to health: the ability of assessing and therefore interpreting CSDS; also the understanding of work practice and control measure to be used in the work place. 3. Understanding of chemicals, its potential risks & health hazards that are used in the work place; 4. Personal safety: the understanding of routes of entry; risks presented by hazardous chemicals; methods used to control risks; precautions taken for a particular risk; correct use, fit and maintenance of personal protective equipment and clothing.
5. Emergency Procedure: Procedures to be followed during an occurrence of emergency; first aid or incident reporting procedures to be followed in case of injury and illness. |

LEARNING OUTCOME |

At the end of this training , participants shall be able to understand the chemical hazards, risk, personal safety measures, assessing and therefore interpreting CSDS, and determine the legal requirement that are applicable to their current work
